Keep Calm and Reign On

Heather Maciak's Jenny and Lexie Yahoo group has the most wonderful picture contests and displays. Heather is so generous with people who collect her dolls. I so wish the line was still being produced. (Sad face here)

The group's latest project involved a theme many teachers use to begin the school year - What did you do on your summer vacation?

And my five year old Jenny wrote -

My Summer Vacation by Jenny in Pennsylvania

The best part of my summer vacation was spent on my doll mother's shelf as a display doll for a very special summer event. Can you guess what it was?

Here are three clues:

1. A favorite expression in the country of this event is "Keep Calm and Carry On." Since the Queen of this country also celebrated her Diamond Jubilee this summer, everyone changed the expression to "Keep Calm and Reign On." Can you imagine being a queen for 60 years. Wow!

2. The capital of the country of this event is London.

3. When I grow up I want to carry the flag of my country in the opening ceremonies of this event.

Did you guess the event? The Olympic Games XXX held in London, England!

Merely Minnie (Mouse) ten inch bjd from Goodreau? Not anymore. This girl is a doll darling with many looks as show in photos from doll collector friends.

Nikki in Steampunk Land

Looks like Nikki has been up to her elbows in steampunk grease! Great creations!

Steampunk Toralei OOAK Monster High Steampunk couple. Toralei and Clawd have received full repaints. Toralei's gloves have also been repainted. Toralei wears an orange dress by Melovegangrels. I added the brown pawprint sleeves and underskirt with lace. The corset is handmade from pleather and laces up the back with metal eyelets. Clawd wears his original shoes, shirt and waistcoat (buttons added), but I handmade his trousers. His arm protector is made from pleather, as are his goggles. The hats (The larger one is from a J-Doll, the smaller from a dollhouse Heidi Ott doll) are decorated with wooden laser-cut cogs from evilbay.

Lovin' the Jewelry

When the little girl next door stops by, she wants to see the dolls and I always keep a few "playables" our for  her: some Barbies, an old Ashton Drake, and the plusher Muffy bears that seem to have been forgotten by collectors. Yesterday she arrived unannounced and the only thing readily available for play was the jewelry - bracelets. She had a blast!
