I do own three My Twinns and a few AGs. Never have I owned a doll of this magnitude. When BDFF AM exchanged info about Wednesday's Child after having seen her at the Halloween convention, we both vowed Hugetta would never be added to our collections - esp with a MSRP of $250. Then we admitted that we might add her if she dropped down to - let's say twenty-five dollars and - she did! We were obligated. LOL

Huge - part two

This package is not only bigger than a breadbox but as high as my four drawer high Cushman dresser.

The doll shipper was housed in a box that resembled a coffin or a vault more than a typical Uline.

This big shipper on the left houses the doll of question next to an Agnes Dreary shipper.

Here is a typical full size bed.

Here is the same bed with doll box and shipper covering 2/3s of the comforter.

One can say huge things are happening here.

Calling this a combined dolls for dolls and prim post. I always feel better when my displays present the dolls with an appropriate prop nearby or in hand. This - then - requires a separate accumulation of mini toys and dolls.

Flexi Agnes was sitting so lonely in her twig chair (eyes tired from wearing her glasseds and too much online time w/ her mini computer from Auntie Penne). Friday the 13th and not a Dreary was celebrating. Etsy came to the rescue in my search for a prim pal especially for Flexi. All better now (says Flexi wearing a big Dreary non-grin bc Drearys never smile you know).

When most doll collector's are asked which doll resembles them - they have an answer. I never did. I just looked like oldie but (mostly) goodie me - and no doll I knew of.

Today I connected a new printer/scanner which had me searching through boxes of photos for things to scan and I think I may have found a mini me dolly connect! At the age of three to five.

It's the wide opened eye stare that seals it! LOL The doll is a MDCC Mini Ginny from St. Petersburg.

Left - Olivia & Effie by Helen Kish the newest 12" head sculpt is paired with a new head sculpt for a 6" bent limb baby and have emerged as Olivia & Effie, Olivia has a long, jet black mohair wig with full bangs, and blue, blue eyes.

Right - “Floral Revelry” Bethany stands 12” tall, with 13 points of articulation. Her vinyl head is hand painted with blue eyes and she wears her pale blonde mohair in a classic bob. Her new head sculpt is updated with a little more mature version of the original Bethany. Here, Bethany wears a sleeveless dress with a two tiered skirt of floral design on a black back ground and black & tan stripes (matching her bodice). Her red wool felt bolero jacket is festooned with floral and geometrical details, fixed with tiny beads. Completing her ensemble are black boots over black tights and a crisp toque mirroring the gray, red and burgundy in her jacket with embellishments of the same floral design front and center. My Drearyness is complete. My last grail Dreary has been added to the collection and what a remarkable journey it has been. I learned via the internet that adults (many of us kids at heart) are serious doll collectors and even have groups that support our hobby. Big Grin! Along the way I have made so many wonderful friends who have helped me through a doll crisis here and there and even a few down times in my real deal life. Viktor Dreary Fashion Description

1. The shirt does have snaps in the back, all the way up to the top of the collar - that way, if you want to show the lower half of his face, you can just undo 2 snaps. (The shirt is lined)

2. His pants are made of corduroy, and he has two pockets on the front of his pants, though they are just little folds of material, rather than functional pockets. The shorts have one snap in the back, and there is no belt and no underwear. (The pants have cuffs and are unlined)

For Halloween Berdine Creedy offered her Yahoo group the opportunity to add a small bjd dressed in a designer Halloween fashion. I chose Lady Bug bc Bee and Fly demanded I complete the trio on the doll shelf.

Since Mel Creedy already resided in Drearydom and was in dire need of a little sister, dressing them both in matching outfits was a thrill. The bat dress from the Halloween project is worn here by Goodreau fiver elf/gnome Honeysuckle who was bodyblushed to her fun purple hue by AnnMarie in RI. My DH went to Ikea in MN while visiting his offspring;he came home with this gift for me -

Neighbor visited with her Irish Setter today. Pretty soon we saw sweet Lucy walk past with my Ikea rat dangling gently from her mouth. Embarassed, my neighbor rescued the rat and stated that Lucy loves/has her own stuffed animal collection. The dog won't go to sleep unless she is snuggled next to one.

Wait - I wonder if I could get Lucy intersted in collecting dolls - and starting a club per chance????

The dolls are getting dressed for their display at the town library in the Halloween showcase. Tonner/Effanbee's Ann Estelle's Halloween character will be a MOUSE! (borrowed from a Muffy VanderBear). Dollmore Love Amy (the older sister) is just looking cool in her mod wear from Etsy doll fashion artist Charie Wilson Grenier. As for little Lilah - she simply wants to play with her Donald Duck toy. DH vacationed w/ friends recently who have the most adorable little girl who loves plush animals, anything pink, and her dolls. When he returned home he went to local shops for a doll to send Em.

He was dismayed with what he found - all glitter and big headed - as he put it. JUNK - he added. Not dolls at all - JUNK.

So I was asked if I had anything from my collection he could send. I had already swapped Fancy Nancy to a friend who planned to gift it to a child for a 4th birthday present (in return I got a Hagrid for a dear doll friend). There in the back of the closet I found Abby from Mrs. Willoughby's First Grade class. Tonner/Effanbee release circa 2006.

The package was sent and I do believe the recipient approves of the selection!

Been a while since I posted. While one doll celebration brings us to four years since Agnes Dreary arrived and Cheeryaboutagnesdreary was formed on Yahoo groups another doll closure is about to begin in my life. My collection has expanded to over 300 dolls in a rather short time. All were displayed and enjoyed at one point but most have fallen into the sad existence of boxed dolls collecting dust in the closet. Time to begin a relocation program for most of them. Next week I will list those seeking new owners. Been deciding if Ebay, doll boards/groups or Craig's List would be the best method to use - still haven't decided.

When members of the Berdine Creedy group participated in the March Doll Project, Berdine kindly offered to send a Magna doll to each participant if they knew someone who needed a doll to love.

A Pouty Pia arrived at my house waiting to be groomed for her child. DH fixed the magnet in her leg. A fashion and wig were puchased to finish her look.

She is the one in the white dress and dark blond braids. Isn't she lovely!

Who are the other two, you ask? Since Pouty Pia one will be leaving Drearydom Larks, the other dolls and I decided we needed some Magna girls as permanent residents!

My Pouty Pia is on the viewer's left wearing her original outfit and one of two wigs, and in the middle is Serious Sadi who borrowed Ann Estelle's romper, shoes, and glasses. Her wig was also borrowed from my Berdine Creedy March Dol Chi Chi re-named Charm.

Tuff Tulah Time and the yellow petals 6/14

She calls it her froggie uniform (bc postal workers, UPS workers have their required attire) - hmmm - thinking this means Tulah will be wearing her floppy beige socks, flowered shoes, and froggie uniform for the entire summer of 2011. The washing machine will be humming every evening.

When asked just what her occupation was that a uniform was required, she did her eye thing with her flame hair standing even more on end, glanced upward and mumbled that she wanders around the house and sees things. Things that need to be fixed or corrected or cleaned. Great - next she'll need white gloves.

Yesterday the observation was the pitcher with fresh cut flowers that needed clean water and yellow petal pick-up surrounding it. Couldn't have been too severe bc her pointing arm wasn't as direct and manic as usual. : )

Charm gets silly

Time to rearrange and pack things away and place summer things in key places.

Silly Charm - decided to don a furbee wig and lounge in her chair near a birdfeeder trailer.

She reminds me of some of the retirees one might see in a KOA campgroud. All smiles and offering snacks on the picnic table along with thirst quenching lemonade.

While I patiently wait for Paulette Goodreau to introduce Imogen Ice Box - I was able to complete the Goodreau ABCer alphabet up to H! Even found a Bellatrix Belfry WHITEY DD - so I believe I have ABCers in all the available shades and fashions. (Phew!)

And then some - Angela Wade, Duds for Dolls, Michele Hardy, and Wee Wardrobe all offered fashions and wigs I couldn't resist!

Dolly organizing...tuff work

I have the reputation of tossing out things. If the salad container has lived in the fridge three days - out it goes. Jellies and salas opened don't stand a chance after a month. (which I think is extremely long) Clothes - haven't worn it in two years - out it goes! Mags go to library or neighbors after each read, along with books and dvds after one watching.

SOooooo - when I tell you I am concerned my doll collecting is one step short of - hoarding - I am not presenting a hyperbole - well maybe a little. Certainly I have no more room for things that are doll related - my intentions are good but I never seem to create that tree house or re-paint the Barbie furniture for the Drearys. et al.

Currently I have a bag at the top of the stairs filled with a Barbie bathroom set and fridge along with Willy Wonka Ken doll, some other Barbie and Ken in a tuxedo, a baby doll from Ebay of unknown origin with a sweet flowery aroma who didn't quite fit into Grimm's nursery and a few other doll fashions that didn't work. this is to go to charity on Tuesday. This is the FIFTH time it has been at the top of the stairs or the back of the car or on the kitchen counter waiting to leave this place. Each time I bring it back. Yikes!

General organing comments. My three little Crabtree and Evelyn suitcases have been assigned to the Critter critters and eighters along with some Betsy McCall fashions and stuff for the Creedy and Dollmore 5ers.

The doll is a Momoko whose picture I first saw on the board of Kawaii Korner. I had seen the Momoko snow white and was delighted with her raven hair and red lips but this gal named Fun Vote is uber goth.

Back to my ABCs - the mermaid's wig

As I've stated many times before, I do appreciate creativity but I can not create: no sewing, no knitting, no felting, no crocheting, no needlepoint. You get the picture.

Wait - I did study classical piano for twelve years, but since I haven't touched a piano in thirty plus more - that spell of creativity doesn't count. And it wasn't exactly crafting in any way.

So here's the story. For the summer I want Grayleah (my gray ABCer from Goodreau) to be a mermaid - besparkled in a silver suit sold on the Goodreau site at goodreaudollstore.com

Acquiring a suit was no problem although since Paulette has had an extreme volume of orders - her Mystery Pack sale was too great for even non doll people to pass up - it might not arrive for another two weeks. But then - summer won't have arrived and we might have more snow on the ground if the weathermen predict correctly.

I wanted the perfect fur wig for the outfit. A little goth with a touch of Gaga. White with black or gray streaks in it. (that would be frosted) Resembling this offering from DDE:

Now Grayleah has a large, oddly rounded head - size 10 special made size. Finding such a wig from normal sources seemed impossible. HOWEVER - a very lovely, creative artisan came to my rescue - and the wig story will be continued in another post!

Decisions Decisions 4/16/2011 update -purchased a wig intended to be used with the Mermaid - however - when the meraid outfit arrived Paulette included a fuschia streaked wig that worked so well with the outfit that I decided to keep them together.
